Founded in San Jose, California in 2015. Born from a deep reverence for the tradition of barbering and an uncompromising commitment to progress, /Paradox/ exists to push the timeless craft into a modern space.
THE /MISSION/
As purveyors of style and standard-bearers of the contemporary barbershop, their mission throughout the past decade has been to redefine the experience for those that sit in the chair and elevating what it means to stand behind it.
Led by founders JR Soriano, Don Gomez, Jeff Phan, and Jordan Benigno /Paradox/ is the product of a growing brotherhood forged in barber college in 2011, representing over two decades of experience behind the chair and their love for empowering those around them. Together, they have grown /Paradox/ into one of the most recognized barber collectives out the West Coast and a trailblazing force in the future of modern barbering.
THE /SPACES/
/Paradox/ operates five locations across the Bay Area, from the original Midtown San Jose flagship opened in 2015 to their second location in historic Japantown, the first Eastbay chapter shop in Downtown Fremont, the Downtown San Jose headquarters, and The Anomaly Studio by /Paradox/, the brand's latest studio concept opened in partnership with Kevin Luk in spring 2026.
THE /ACADEMY/
ĒDUCŌ Academy, founded in 2025 and housed within the Downtown San Jose headquarters, is a licensed barber academy for aspiring professionals and a communal hub for their global network of barbers, stylists, and creatives. Precision is at the core of everything taught here. As a licensed college and the first education platform of it’s kind operating within the US, ĒDUCŌ is built to push the industry forward through shared knowledge, world-class mentorship, and a collective standard that refuses to settle for mediocrity. It exists not only to train the next generation, but to add lasting value to the broader creative community as a whole.
THE /VISION/
The /Paradox/ ecosystem exists to serve not only patrons looking to transform their look, but the communities that walk through its doors, along with the barbers who call it home. It is a space where purveyors of style are cultivated, the standard of precision is never compromised, and the opportunity to build something lasting is within reach for those ambitious enough to pursue it.
From the beginning, the goal was never just to build a great barbershop. It was to build something with enough care and intention behind it that it could outlast any one person in the room while building an abundance of opportunity for a legacy we can all be proud of… A hundred years is the horizon. The work happening today is how we get there.
